Founded in the eighteenth century, the high reputation of the castle comes from Hector Baron de Brane, nicknamed Napoleon des Vignes, which completely restructured the property after buying it in 1833. He was ranked second Cru in 1855 in the Margaux appellation.

The Lurton family acquired it in 1925. This large property of 75 hectares is located to the west of Cantenac off the Gironde on the board Brane and is based on the richness of the soil, composed of a layer of quaternary gravel, mostly Günz and mendel . The vines are 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot, 4.5% Cabernet Franc and 0.5% Carmenère. Taken in 1992 by Henri Lurton, it has highly innovative technical installations and an original chai meets the requirements of sustainable development. Since the spring of 2010, he decided to cultivate 10 hectares of vineyards to organic viticulture as an experiment.
