Products of the domain : Château Montrose

It is in 1815 that the heather hill overlooking the Gironde is cleared and planted thanks to Etienne Théodore Dumoulin, who had inherited his father the property purchased from the Ségur family in 1778. A castle and farm buildings are constructed, the vineyard is 50 ha in 1850. Château Montrose was born.

Rapid and remarkable success, the excellence of the wine offers it to be ranked 2nd Grand Cru in 1855! In 1861, Mathieu Dolfus acquired the domain and built a small village completely turned to wine production.

In 1896 the property passed into the hands of the Charmolue family whose three generations maintained Montrose at the highest level until 2006, when the brothers Martin and Olivier Bouygues, great lovers of Grand Cru, make its acquisition.

The vineyard covers 95 hectares on a hill of deep basement clay marl and goes up the Gironde which brings a very temperate microclimate favorable to culture.
