The origins of Château Fougas date back to the eighteenth century, and Jean-Yves Bechet from a family of Bordeaux merchants, purchased the property in 1976.

By choosing organic farming (certified in 2010) and biodynamic agriculture, Jean-Yves Bechet refines the flavors and tastes of his wines striving for excellence while enhancing the soils and respecting the natural balances and environment. At the Château Fougas, the harvest is done by hand. Such as the vinification, breeding takes place with a parcel tracking. The aging in oak barrels lasts 18 months.

Castle Fougas Maldoror is the Grand Vin of the property, assembled from 75% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Sauvignon.

The production of the domain is around 85,000 bottles per year. The second wine is simply named “Le Château Fougas”.
